History

Proinet's history begins in 2000. The company was natural extension of IT consulting activities of it's founders.

At that time we were involved in open-source market. We took part in projects like Postgres database system later renamed to PostgreSQL. We actively used and deployed various parts of IT business infrastructure based on open source solutions like Linux.

Since 2000 our major income were due to software development but we also offered advertising services using our in-house built Ad Server based on Java. Java was a natural choice becouse of the platform freedom and it's natural openness. It fitted wel into our overall open-source strategry.

IT market collapse in 2001 gave as an impulse to broaden our activities. We started deliver outsourced IT systems administration, networking and telecommunication services, IT security services. Even not being strictly software development related, those services extended our pragmatic knowledge of software use cases.

Java

The Ad Server project was successful not only for monetary profits. It was the first Java based project that we delivered. It gave us a positive experience on the platform, so quickly we realized it was a strong candidate for enterprise development.

At that moment we were active committers in JServ project that we used as our product foundation. Among other things we delivered a next generation Apache-JServ communication protocol (AJP 12). We first published it in October 1999. JServ was later part of various commercial products (Oracle 9i AS among others).

Foundation

Our unique ability to mix various competences in areas like:

could not be neglected by our US partners. Years of smooth cooperation resulted in foundation of Proinet sp. z o.o. (LLC). It was registered in Polish Court (in Lodz) on October 31, 2006.
